Choosing the right crypto exchange is like choosing a bank that pays you instead of charging you.

Most traders spend hundreds of hours learning technical analysis...
But almost nobody spends an hour learning how to choose the right exchange.
Ironically, that decision alone can quietly add - or take away - thousands of dollars over the years through rebates, promos, better execution, and VIP benefits.
For the past two years, I've been testing the biggest exchanges - not just as a KOL partner, but first and foremost as a trader.
I evaluate exchanges based on how they benefit the average trader, not how they treat influencers.
Most KOLs receive incentives that regular users will never see.
And I'd rather recommend something that actually benefits everyone reading this.
That means I judge every exchange the same way most of you should:
"Will this exchange help me make more money, save more money, or cost me more money?"
Over the past few years, I've tested almost everything these exchanges have to offer.
Spot.
Futures.
Grid Bots.
Trading competitions.
VIP programs.
Stablecoin promos.
Launchpads.
P2P.
Customer support.
TradFi integrations.
Rebates.
Affiliate systems.
The goal of this post is simple.
I want to document how I personally use each exchange, what I like, what I don't like, and who I think each one is best suited for.
Hopefully, this helps some of you decide where to trade depending on your own needs.
How I personally rate exchanges
I honestly don't care much about marketing.
I only look at three things.
1. Product
Can I actually trade comfortably?
Fast execution
Good UI
Deep liquidity
Wide asset selection
Useful products (Grid Bots, Earn, Options, Staking, etc.)
2. Service
How well do they treat their users?
Customer support
P2P dispute handling
Promotions
VIP treatment
Trading discounts
Rebates
3. Opportunity
This is probably the most underrated category.
Some exchanges don't necessarily have the best product...
...but they create more opportunities to make money.
Stablecoin promos.
Trading competitions.
VIP events.
Cashback.
Trading rebates.
Launchpool rewards.
These things add up over time.
Now that you know my rating system. Let's proceed...
Binance & Bybit
Best for: Almost everyone.
These two are still the benchmark.
If you ask me which exchange has the best overall product, these two immediately come to mind.
Execution is smooth.
UI is polished.
Liquidity is deep.
Large market orders rarely suffer from noticeable slippage.
They also have excellent TradFi integrations and enough products that most users won't ever feel limited.
I personally use Binance almost exclusively for P2P because they consistently have the best rates in the Philippines.
One thing newer traders don't realize is that being the biggest exchange also has disadvantages.
Listings are much stricter.
If you're looking for the newest memecoin, chances are it won't be listed here anytime soon.
Ironically, once projects finally get listed on Binance or Bybit, it sometimes becomes an exit event because projects usually pay listing fees in USDT and tokens. Those tokens eventually become selling pressure.
Another downside of being the biggest exchange is regulation.
The larger you become, the bigger the target on your back.
Governments naturally pay more attention to market leaders, which sometimes results in restrictions for users depending on where they live.
My biggest complaint though?
Rebates.
If you trade serious volume, rebates matter far more than most people realize.
A 20% rebate can easily translate into anywhere between $2,000 to $20,000+ every month, depending on your volume.
It's honestly one of those things I wish someone taught me much earlier in my trading journey.
Overall, if you simply want an excellent exchange and don't care too much about maximizing every possible incentive, Binance and Bybit remain difficult to beat.
OKX
Best for: Professional traders and anyone who values VIP treatment.
This is easily one of my favorite exchanges.
Imagine Binance...
...except with fewer people competing for every promotion.
That alone makes a huge difference.
Promotions become easier to maximize.
Trading competitions become more realistic.
Reward pools feel less crowded.
But the biggest reason I like OKX is their VIP ecosystem.
Most exchanges reserve their best treatment for influencers.
OKX rewards traders too.
If you have enough deposits or enough monthly trading volume, you get assigned a VIP Concierge regardless of whether you're a KOL.
That's something I genuinely appreciate.
I've been fortunate enough to attend two of their VIP events - Japan and Bali - and definitely not because I was an influencer, but because I qualified through balance and activity.
Their customer support is also among the best I've personally experienced.
Fast.
Helpful.
Professional.
The 20% trading rebates plus VIP fee discounts are another huge bonus if you're an active trader.
My only criticism?
Asset selection.
Don't expect every new memecoin to appear here.
OKX prefers quality and liquidity over speed.
If you're trading majors, this is fantastic.
If you're constantly chasing the newest token, you'll probably feel limited.
Personally, OKX is where I run most of my Grid Bots.
MEXC
Best for: Degens... and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
If Binance waits...
MEXC lists it yesterday.
Their biggest advantage is simple.
Aggressive listings.
If you can't find a token anywhere else, there's a good chance MEXC already has it.
This creates opportunities that simply don't exist on larger exchanges.
The downside?
More opportunity also means more risk.
Over 90% of newly listed tokens eventually dump.
If you understand market cycles and know how to short responsibly, MEXC can be an incredible place to trade.
If you're someone who blindly buys every new listing...
...this exchange will punish you.
One interesting limitation is position allocation.
Newly listed tokens often have caps on how much you can long or short.
At first I found it annoying.
Now I actually think it's one of the better ways to reduce manipulation on highly volatile launches.
Another area where MEXC stands out is leverage.
While I don't recommend it to beginners who don't understand how to use this tool, having up to 500x Cross Leverage gives experienced traders far more flexibility in capital efficiency and hedging strategies than most competitors.
Their daily vouchers and trading bonuses are another underrated feature.
The UI still feels basic compared to Binance or OKX, and products like Grid Bots still have room for improvement.
But if you're someone who enjoys hunting opportunities before everyone else...
MEXC deserves a spot on your list.
Gate
Best for: Multi-asset traders.
Gate is probably the most underrated exchange when it comes to asset coverage.
Crypto.
US Stocks.
Hong Kong Stocks.
Korean Stocks.
ETFs.
Forex.
Indices.
Commodities.
Very few exchanges offer that much under one roof.
This is why I personally use Gate for most of my TradFi activities.
Unfortunately...
This is also the exchange that frustrates me the most.
Liquidity isn't great.
Large orders experience noticeably more slippage.
The interface still feels sluggish.
Balances occasionally take time to refresh.
Charts sometimes freeze after being idle.
None of these are deal breakers.
But they definitely become annoying if you're trading actively.
That said...
I'd still rather use Gate than our local stock exchange.
If they improve execution and modernize their interface, I genuinely think they could become one of the strongest exchanges in the market.
Bitget
Best for: Passive opportunities and stablecoin promotions.
Bitget sits somewhere in the middle.
It doesn't dominate any one category...
...but it also doesn't perform poorly in any of them.
If I had to describe Bitget in one sentence, it'd be the balanced all-rounder.
One area where they absolutely shine is community building.
Their KOL relations are excellent.
Their merchandise is probably my favorite among all the exchanges I've worked with.
These are actually things you'd wear instead of throwing into a drawer.
Their events also receive consistently good feedback from people who've attended.
Personally, I mostly use Bitget for two things.
Stablecoin promotions.
And one third-party trading bot that integrates particularly well with their platform.
It's not my primary trading exchange...
...but it's one I always keep funded whenever attractive promotions appear.
My personal recommendations
If you're new to crypto
→ Binance or Bybit
Simple.
Reliable.
Probably the best overall experience.
If you're a high-volume trader who wants rebates and an excellent VIP experience
→ OKX
If you love trading new projects before everyone else
→ MEXC
If you're building a TradFi + Crypto portfolio in one place
→ Gate
If you're farming stablecoin promos and passive opportunities
→ Bitget
One thing I wish someone taught me years ago...
Most people choose an exchange because their favorite influencer told them to.
I think that's the wrong approach.
Choose the exchange that matches how you make money.
Your exchange isn't just where you buy Bitcoin.
It's where your trading fees accumulate.
It's where your rebates compound.
It's where your VIP perks grow.
It's where your promotions come from.
Over the years, choosing the right exchange can quietly put thousands - or even tens of thousands of dollars- back into your pocket.
And that's something most people completely overlook.
If you'd like to open an account with any of these exchanges and receive up to 20% trading rebates (where available), you can find all of my referral links here:
